Drury Tankersley Clam Chowder Dinner

It's Clam Chowder Time!

Over 1500 people annually enjoy the Clam Chowder Dinner, held early in the year at the Orradre building at the Salinas Valley Fairgrounds. Featuring the famous Lloyd Atwater clam chowder recipe, diners get all-you-can-eat clam chowder, rolls, fresh salad and homemade dessert. A wine and soda bar is available. Dinner guests get to place bids at the silent auction featuring a variety of antiques, photo replicas from the museum’s collection and home baked pies and cakes. The Clam Chowder Dinner has become a community favorite.


The Ag Tour

The Ag Tour

The Ag Tour which is held annually visits a variety of agricultural enterprises around the valley. The tour provides an up-close look at modern agribusiness in action. After a continental breakfast at San Lorenzo Park , participants board luxury buses and visit sites around the Salinas Valley. Places visited in past years include a winery (with wine tasting), carrot harvesting operation, seedling nursery, duck farm, packing shed, cattle ranch with working stock dog demonstration, a fertilizer operation and much more. Tours include all meals plus refreshments on the buses.

Fall Ghost Lecture Series

Campfire Gost Stories 

Bring a picnic, blanket and gather around a blazing bon-fire under the stars in San  Lorenzo Park's Haunted Forrest while getting scared by stories  of local hauntinsg and ghosts. Listen to local storytellers and  come prepared to tell stories of your own! Featured storytellers -  Robert Walton. No host beer and Wine bar.

Holiday Open House @ MCARLM

Season's Greetings!

Greetings and happy holidays from Monterey County Agriculture & Rural Life Museum! We cordially invite boys & girls of all ages to celebrate the holidays "country style" at the museum, located in San Lorenzo County Park. MCARLM will have an array of special activities including the following:

  • Museum Tours
  • Wine Tasting
  • Crafts
  • Quilting display
  • Canned Food Drive
  • Homemade Soup Buffet and Holiday Treats
  • Hay Rides
  • Holiday Movies in our on site theatre

Our gift shop will be open to accommodate your LOCAL holiday shopping needs, as we have many unique items from artwork to toys and everything in between. This annual event is FREE to the public with a donation to our canned food drive benefiting either the King City Food Pantry or Loaves & Fishes, groups that distribute non-perishable food items to local families in need.  For more information, contact the museum at 831-385-8020. Hope to see you there!
